Second gentleman Doug Emhoff clapped back at former President Trump, who criticized his wife, Vice President Kamala Harris, after she launched her presidential campaign.

Trump, who often coins nicknames for his political opponents, dubbed Harris ‘Laughin’ Kamala’ and ‘Lyin’ Kamala’ on his social media platform Truth Social.

‘That’s all he’s got?’ Emhoff said Tuesday when asked by reporters about the former president’s comments about his wife.

‘You heard the Vice President yesterday making the case against Donald Trump,’ Emhoff said. ‘Very clearly laid out the case, directly and in a compelling fashion. But she also laid out a vision for the future. A vision where there’s freedom. Where we’re not having to talk about these issues of today in this post Dobbs Hellscape that Donald Trump created.’

Harris launched her presidential campaign Sunday night after President Biden announced he was suspending his re-election campaign. Harris secured enough delegates Monday night to secure the Democratic Party’s nomination, although the party’s nominee will not formally be selected until next month’s convention in Chicago.

‘We’re gonna prosecute the case against Donald Trump and his lies, his gaslighting, during COVID, the dereliction of duty, inciting an insurrection and all those other things,’ Emhoff said.

‘We’re gonna make that very clear,’ Emhoff continued. ‘She’s gonna be able to make that case. We’re also gonna move on from this type of environment, this Dobbs, where freedoms are taken away, where autonomy is taken away. Where they’re telling you, you can’t read this book. They’re telling you, you can’t learn these facts. They’re telling you, you can’t vote. All that is gonna change, and it must change.’

Harris has been raking in the cash since the launch of her campaign. She raised $81 million in the first 24 hours of her campaign, the most in history that a presidential candidate has raised in 24 hours, and $100 million from when Biden dropped out Sunday afternoon through Monday night.

The campaign said more than 888,000 grassroots donors made contributions during the 24 hours, with 60% of them making their first contribution of the 2024 election cycle. The campaign also said it signed up 43,000 of those donors to make recurring donations.

The money Harris raised easily bests the nearly $53 million the Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee raised back in May through their online digital fundraising platform in the first 24 hours after the former president was convicted on 34 felony counts in his criminal trial in New York City.

‘You see the enthusiasm, you see the excitement,’ Emhoff said. ‘You saw the money raised, you saw the party coalesce. You saw the broad base of support that she had in just one or two days because she’s talking about an America that we all have a place in … Kamala Harris has united the party. She’s gonna unite the country … You see that happening, and she’s gonna win this election.’

Democrat Rep. Emilia Sykes, who is running for re-election in an Ohio district that’s vulnerable for Democrats, ignored questions about Vice President Harris’ record on immigration on Tuesday.

‘Hello, Congresswoman, do you think that Kamala Harris did a good job as the border czar,’ Sykes was asked in the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday. 

Sykes ignored the question and kept walking, which prompted a follow-up question.

‘Congresswoman, do you think Kamala Harris did a good job as the border czar? Yes or no?’

Sykes responded, taking issue with the pronunciation of Harris’ name, ‘I don’t know who Kamala Harris is.’

‘She’s the vice president,’ the questioner responds before Sykes enters her office.

‘No surprise: Two days after Sykes endorsed Harris, she pretends not to know her,’ former Ohio Republican state Sen. Kevin Coughlin, who is running against Sykes in Ohio’s 13th Congressional District, told Fox News Digital in a statement. 

‘With Sykes’ support, Harris the Border Czar has created one of the worst humanitarian and security disasters our border has ever seen. I’d pretend not to know her too.’

In a statement to Fox News Digital, DCCC Spokesperson Aidan Johnson pointed to the mispronunciation of Harris’ name.

‘If Republican trackers and Kevin Coughlin are going to ask about the Vice President they should show respect and start pronouncing her name correctly,’ Johnson said.

Sykes endorsed Harris for president on Sunday, pledging to work with Democrats to ‘unify’ around her as the nominee.

Sykes, a first-term Democrat who won in 2022 by five points, is defending her seat in a district that includes parts of two counties that President Trump comfortably won in 2020. The Cook Political Report ranks the race as a ‘Democrat Toss Up.’

House Foreign Affairs Chairman Michael McCaul, R-Texas, is raising concerns about the security of U.S. and world leaders visiting here in the wake of the failed assassination attempt against former President Trump.

‘Yeah, I mean, of course,’ McCaul told Fox News Digital when asked whether security lapses at Trump’s Butler, Pennsylvania ,rally made him concerned about the level of security around President Biden as well. ‘I would say any [leader]… We’ve got Netanyahu coming down tomorrow. That’s a good example.’

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to address a joint session of Congress on Wednesday as his country continues to be at war in Gaza with the pro-Palestine terror group Hamas.

Security preparations are already underway on Capitol Hill, with fencing being seen around the perimeter of the U.S. Capitol as early as Tuesday morning. 

But nevertheless, the deadly shooting at Trump’s rally earlier this month, in which one attendee was killed and two people were critically injured, has spurred concerns and conversations about elected officials’ safety. Trump himself was shot in the ear and evacuated by Secret Service agents.

McCaul said of possible tension at Netanyahu’s coming address, ‘I mean, the ingredients are there for it. It’s ripe for violence.’

He cited the threat of protests by pro-Palestine demonstrators, some of whom have consistently patrolled the Capitol complex in the wake of Hamas’ attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, confronting pro-Israel lawmakers on both sides. More than 300 protesters were arrested in late October of last year after occupying the Cannon House Office building during a protest.

That same Capitol office building saw a massive protest on Tuesday, just a day before Netanyahu’s speech. Protesters occupied the Cannon building rotunda, chantinng and waving banners before dozens were arrested by police, some detained with zipties. Among the banners were messages reading, ‘Jews say: Stop the genocide.’

Fox News Digital reached out to Capitol police for more information.

‘This is where the feds and the Capitol Police really need to be working together,’ McCaul said. 

He was one of several House lawmakers on a bipartisan trip to Butler on Tuesday to tour the area of the attempted assassination. A 20-year-old gunman had opened fire from a rooftop just outside the rally perimeter after being spotted by rally-goers looking suspicious roughly an hour before the shooting. 

‘The site visits are really important to really understand the dynamics at play, particularly a crime scene like this one, and as I understand we’re the first group to actually go up on the roof of the assassination attempt,’ McCaul said.

His first takeaway from the tour, the Texas Republican said, was ‘how close’ the shooter was able to get to Trump’s location. He also noted that there were several nearby areas where security teams could have been stationed but were not.

‘There was very little communication between Secret Service and the local law enforcement,’ McCaul also said.

The shooting prompted a bipartisan wave of backlash against U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, who resigned from her post on Tuesday.

Former President Trump’s campaign filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) on Tuesday, accusing President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris of violating campaign finance laws by transferring his $91 million in fundraising cash to her new campaign. 

Biden bowed out of the presidential race on Sunday following weeks of calls for him to leave following a shaky debate performance. 

The president endorsed the vice president to run for the Democratic ticket in his place and transferred his millions of dollars in campaign cash over to her. 

The Trump campaign argued in the complaint, first reported by The New York Times and obtained by Fox News Digital, that Harris is ‘seeking to perpetrate a $91.5 million dollar heist of Joe Biden’s leftover campaign cash.’

David Warrington, who serves as general counsel for the Trump campaign, called the act ‘a brazen money grab that would constitute the single largest excessive contribution and biggest violation in the history of the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971, as amended.’

‘Kamala Harris is in the process of committing the largest campaign finance violation in American history and she is using the Commission’s own forms to do it,’ the filing concluded. ‘The Commission must not and cannot sit idly by while one candidate takes nearly one hundred million dollars from the authorized committee of another, in violation of the Act and the will of the donors who gave the money in the first place.’

Included in the complaint are Biden, Harris, ‘Biden for President (aka Harris for President) and Keana Spencer, as treasurer, for flagrantly violating the Act by making and receiving an excessive contribution of nearly one hundred million dollars, and for filing fraudulent forms with the Commission purporting to repurpose one candidate’s principal campaign committee for the use of another candidate.’

The complaint argues that if ‘Kamala Harris were a candidate for something in 2024, federal law requires her to have filed a Statement of Candidacy and for her name to have appeared in the name of her authorized committee. But Kamala Harris’s name does not appear in the name of her purported authorized committee, ‘Biden for President,’ and, until Sunday, no Statement of Candidacy existed for her. Then Sunday, rather than filing her own Statement of Candidacy, she merely altered Joe Biden’s to replace his name with hers. There is no mechanism under the Act for one individual to end another’s federal candidacy by simply amending the other’s Form 2. Moreover, in that purported amended Form 2 Harris designated ‘Biden for President’ as her principal campaign committee and then renamed it. Altering a document submitted to a federal agency is a violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1519.3.’ 

The Harris campaign told Fox News Digital that the complaint was ‘baseless.’

‘Team Harris will continue to build on our more than 250 coordinated offices and more than 1,300 coordinated staffers across the battleground states – just like we built on the $240 million cash on hand that we had at launch this week, raising $100 million in our first 36 hours and signing up 58,000 volunteers,’ the statement read.

‘Republicans may be jealous that Democrats are energized to defeat Donald Trump and his MAGA allies, but baseless legal claims – like the ones they’ve made for years to try to suppress votes and steal elections – will only distract them while we sign up volunteers, talk to voters, and win this election.’

Harris’ team broke a record with their more than $100 million fundraising haul since Biden dropped out on Sunday and Harris launched her candidacy. Biden had seen much of his fundraising dry up following his difficult debate on June 27. 

In her first speech since Biden dropped out, Harris spoke to Biden campaign staffers on Monday, assuring them she would need the team to stay on to run her campaign with the election little more than 100 days away on Nov. 5. 

Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are locked in an extremely close contest, according to a new national poll conducted entirely after President Biden announced he was suspending his campaign and endorsing his vice president.

Trump, who was formally nominated last week at the Republican National Convention as the GOP’s 2024 presidential nominee, stands at 46% support among registered voters in an NPR/PBS News/Marist Poll released on Tuesday.

Harris, who on Monday night announced that she’d locked up her party’s nomination by landing commitments of backing from a majority of the nearly 4,000 delegates to next month’s Democratic National Convention, stood at 45% support.

Trump’s one point edge was well within the survey’s sampling error. Nine percent of those questioned were undecided. 

Independents surveyed backed Trump 46%-32% over Harris, with one in five undecided.

In a multi-candidate field, the poll indicated Harris and Trump deadlocked at 42% support, with Democrat turned independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at 7% and Green Party candidate Jill Stein and independent Cornel West each at 1%.

‘Looking at the toplines after all that’s transpired this month, even though the names have changed, the contest for president all looks very familiar,’ Marist Institute for Public Opinion director Lee M. Miringoff highlighted. ‘But drilling down into the numbers tells a different story as more voters are undecided and others may be rethinking their choice.’

The poll was conducted on Monday, the day after Biden’s blockbuster announcement that he was ending his 2024 re-election rematch with Trump. The president’s immediate backing of Harris ignited a surge of endorsements by Democratic governors, senators, House members and other party leaders in supporting Harris to succeed Biden as the party’s 2024 standard-bearer.

Biden suspended his campaign amid mounting pressure from within the Democratic Party for him to drop out after a disastrous performance in last month’s first presidential debate with Trump.

The 81-year-old president’s uneven delivery and awkward answers during the first 20 minutes of the debate in front of a national audience quickly prompted questions about his mental and physical ability to serve another four years in the White House.

According to the poll, 87% of Americans thought Biden’s decision to drop out of the 2024 presidential race was the right thing to do, with only 12% believing it was the wrong thing to do.

Just over 4 in 10 questioned, including 65% of Democrats, said Biden’s decision increases the Democrats’ chances of winning in November. Just under a quarter said his decision decreases the Democrats’ odds, and 34% said it makes no difference.

Top Republicans have been calling for Biden to resign the presidency in the wake of his decision. But 68% of those polled, including 47% of Republicans, said the president should finish his term in office. Just over 3 in 10 said he should resign now.

Both Harris and Trump are underwater when it comes to their favorable ratings, with Harris at 40%-44% favorable/unfavorable and Trump at 43%-49%.

Sen. JD Vance of Ohio, Trump’s running mate, stood at 28% favorable and 31% unfavorable, with just over 4 in 10 unfamiliar with the senator or unsure how to rate him.

When it comes to a running mate for Harris, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg top the list among Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents, with each at 21%.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro followed at 17%, with Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona at 13%, North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper at 7% and Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear and Maryland Gov. Wes Moore each at 6%.

The survey had an overall sampling error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

Former President Trump’s allies are urging him to stick to policy attacks, rather than commentary on her character or physical traits, when facing former Vice President Kamala Harris.

It comes as some within the ex-president’s sphere have bashed Harris as a ‘DEI candidate’ — a criticism that others within Trump’s circle worry could push away moderates and independent voters.

‘I mean, it’s certainly not the rhetoric that I would focus on. I would focus on her merit to do the job,’ Rep. Max Miller, R-Ohio, previously a top Trump 2020 campaign aide, told Fox News Digital. 

‘This woman just isn’t ready to be commander-in-chief of the country. And in my opinion, that’s what Republicans should focus on, as opposed to do what Democrats do, which is to call out someone based off of their skin color or gender. This is all about merit. And so I think DEI is the wrong hole to go down.’

Rep. Ryan Zinke, R-Mont., who served in Trump’s Cabinet, said, ‘I think the tone of Trump is gonna be pointing out that she was even worse than Biden on policies, and her assigned tasks are ones that resulted in failure… I don’t think he’ll be on the personal attacks.’

Trump, for his part, has signaled that border policy will be a cornerstone of his criticism of Harris. He’s holding a press call with reporters to discuss what he called ‘Failed Border Czar Kamala Harris’ Border Bloodbath.’

Harris announced Sunday evening that she would seek the presidency after President Biden revealed he’s dropping out of the 2024 race. 

It prompted some on the right to accuse her of only being chosen as Biden’s vice president because of ‘diversity, equity, and inclusion’ (DEI) principles, citing her low polling and pressure on Biden in 2020 to appoint a Black woman as his running mate.

Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., called Harris a ‘DEI vice president’ in a post on X Monday.

‘Personal aspersions don’t work in politically successful campaigns,’ another House Republican told Fox News Digital on Tuesday. ‘So yeah, let’s knock that stuff off.’

Trump ally Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla., told Fox News Digital, ‘I hope that Americans aren’t going to vote for people based on their race or color creed. I would think we’re beyond that… She owns every bit of the Biden-Harris administration for the last three and a half years. And that’s all you have to focus on.’

The Trump campaign’s 2024 national press secretary Karoline Leavitt ripped Harris in a statement to Fox News Digital, saying she ‘needs to answer for her own terrible weak-on-crime record in California.’

‘Kamala Harris is just as weak, failed and incompetent as Joe Biden — and she’s also dangerously liberal. Not only does Kamala need to defend her support of Joe Biden’s failed agenda over the past four years, she also needs to answer for her own terrible weak-on-crime record in California,’ Leavitt said. ‘A vote for Kamala is a vote for more crime, inflation, open borders, high gas prices, and war around the world, and our team will make sure every American knows it.’

House GOP leaders urged their members to refrain from attacks on Harris’s personality and physical traits during a closed-door conference meeting on Tuesday morning, multiple GOP lawmakers told Fox News Digital. 

Rep. Nick Langworthy, R-N.Y., who as New York State GOP chair navigated tough elections and even tried to recruit Trump to run for governor, called those personal attacks ‘noise.’ He said, ‘It’s really important to continue to talk about policy. This is an economic election. This is about the economy and the angst that, especially the middle class, has right now.’

But not all Trump allies are in agreement — Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., one of Trump’s top campaign surrogates, told Fox News Digital the day before, ‘I think everyone knows that.’

‘She wasn’t chosen because she was truly highly ranked amongst Democratic voters throughout the country. She was chosen for a reason. And it seems to be that her, unfortunately, her gender and maybe her skin color was part of that,’ Greene said, adding that she also anticipated the Trump campaign attacking Harris on policy.

The identity arms race

No matter how much money you have in the bank, a hacker or scammer wants it — and they’re always one step ahead.

If you’re skeptical of your bank having your voice data on record, you’re not crazy — you’re smart. A voice can be cloned using AI with as little as 10 seconds of audio and a few bucks.

Call your bank’s customer service line and . It takes two minutes. If you can do it now, great. If you can’t, I highly recommend you set a reminder to do it later. This is important.

Scammers have been known to plant fake numbers in search results. Don’t just Google search the name of your bank and call that number. Go directly to your bank’s website or call the number on the back of your debit or credit card.

Go a step further

Because you’re smart, you use strong unique passwords, you enable 2FA, you don’t bank on public Wi-Fi, and you always monitor your accounts. (More on all that below if you need help.)

But it might be worth a phone call or trip to your local bank branch to ask if they offer extra security features. Popular options include:

This physical or digital device generates one-time passcodes that are usually only good for 30 seconds for safer online banking.

Set up text or email notifications for real-time account activities, such as large transactions or account changes. It’s a bit of a pain when you have to approve all your charges, but it has saved me from scams and phony charges.

Many banks offer options to automatically lock your account after a certain number of failed online login attempts.

: This is enhanced security for certain activities using additional verification steps. For example, Morgan Stanley asks me for a one-time passcode if I log in at a new location.

Get your banking security up to par

Maybe you need to get the basics in order first. That’s OK, and it’s definitely not too late to take a couple smart steps.

Turn on two-factor authentication so only you can access your accounts. 

With 2FA enabled, a secondary form of verification is required to prove your identity instead of just entering your username and password to log in to an account.

The second form of verification can be something only you know (an answer to a question), something you have (your device), or who you are (a fingerprint, voice pattern or facial scan). You enter the temporary code, and voila — you’re in. 

 An authenticator app. Biometrics (your face or fingerprint scan) are a close runner-up. A text code is the most hackable.

Only log onto your bank from a network you can trust.

Looking at you, random coffee shop Wi-Fi. Public Wi-Fi networks do little to nothing to protect your privacy. Cybercriminals know this and use free Wi-Fi networks to find victims. Malware, phony hotspots, unsecured networks and nefarious passers-by might all be able to cut in, compromising your data and account.

If you connect to public Wi-Fi without taking precautions, thieves can steal login credentials to any account you sign into while on the network, including your bank accounts.

If you must connect to free public Wi-Fi, don’t do it without a virtual private network (VPN). A VPN allows you to browse the internet while encrypting your sensitive information. This helps hide your online credentials and IP address.

– Pro-life advocates, quietly despondent about the changes on abortion to the Republican Party platform, are re-energized by the Democrats’ new likely nominee-to-be, who many feel they can successfully paint as ‘the extremist she is’ on the issue of abortion.

The politics of abortion have changed since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and sent the issue of abortion access to the states. Democrats seized the moment, blaming former President Trump and his allies for the decision and trying to convince voters that a vote for a Democrat is a vote to restore Roe in some capacity. 

Just before the Republican National Convention last week, the RNC softened long-standing GOP language in the party’s platform, removing references to calls for a nationwide ban on abortion to appeal to a broader group of voters. 

Pro-life groups were still quick to support the Trump ticket, believing a Republican administration would still be most favorable to their cause of installing more protection for unborn babies and pregnant mothers, despite the changes to the GOP platform. 

But a new memo obtained by Fox News Digital reveals that pro-life advocates are ready to coalesce around a new objective – painting Harris as an abortion ‘extremist’ who ‘can’t name any limits on abortion she supports.’

In a memo sent Tuesday to GOP candidates, leadership and officeholders and state leaders from SBA Pro-Life America, one of the leading advocacy groups in the country, SBA claims, ‘Everyone expected abortion to be a major issue in the 2024 elections, but it now intensifies with Kamala Harris at the top of the ticket.’ 

The memo contrasts President Biden, an Irish Catholic who ‘could barely utter the word abortion and for decades supported at least some basic limits, such as limits on taxpayer-funded abortions’ with Harris, SBA says, ‘shouts abortion – and has not once voted or voiced support for ANY limits on abortion.’ 

‘Harris is so committed to abortion that she can’t see anything else, including the developmental stages of children before birth or the real needs of women,’ the memo states. 

The memo points to then-Sen. Harris, who voted two times against a limit on abortions at 20 weeks with exceptions, ‘well after science shows unborn babies can feel pain – calling it an ‘immoral’ bill.’ 

‘She’s also voted twice against ensuring medical care for babies who survive an abortion attempt,’ the memo notes. 

The memo also references Harris’ time as California attorney general, when she backed legislation that forced pregnancy resource centers to advertise for abortion clinics – which was eventually struck down as unconstitutional at the U.S. Supreme Court.

The memo notes that in 2022, Harris supported closing down pregnancy resource centers which, in lieu of abortions, provide free medical care, baby formula, diapers and other necessities. 

Jeanne Mancini, president of the March for Life, noted in a post on X on Monday that pro-life activists ‘around the country are more emboldened than any time since Roe to rally and educate Americans about [Harris’] radical record on abortion.’

‘There is no doubt that there was some disappointment and concern from grassroots pro-life activists over the GOP Platform changes, but with Kamala Harris at the helm there is a renewed enthusiasm among pro-lifers to fight for the unborn this election cycle,’ one Republican pro-life activist told Fox News Digital. 

‘Harris is a stooge for Big Abortion, so much so that she even voted against legislation that called for providing health care to babies born alive from failed abortions, making it easier to paint her as the extremist she is,’ the source said. 

Another pro-life activist told Fox that with Harris as the new presidential candidate, it ‘should force Trump and JD Vance to lean in on this issue’ to ‘show moderates just how radical Kamala is – abortion on demand at any time and for any reason.’
